December 21, 2002hi friends: a very short note to ask you to pray for us in the coming days. As you know, my health in the last year has been steadily improving--I've enjoyed decreased protein (cancer) counts, have gotten in decent shape and kept the weight off. I've been doing some consulting and writing, and generally we've been enjoying ourselves. However, just before Thanksgiving I began having some pain in my left hip/leg again, and last week when I returned from a business trip I had some tests/bloodwork done to be sure.... Well, it turns out that my protein indicators are back up again--10x what they were in the summer (tho' nearly 10x less than they were 20 months ago). This means that the cancer is returning. On Friday I'll be meeting with the doctor at UPenn who supervised my stem cell transplant to talk about possible reponses, then the next day we'll leave for Xmas in Maine with Sheri's parents. It's a bit disturbing, obviously, and scary too (since I've already been there once!). We're both a bit weirded out. So, anyway, if you pray please do. I remain confident that grace makes beauty of ugly things, and will continue to sound that refrain, along with the need to remember those without names, voices or loved ones. Thanks for your concern. love, Dwight E-mail Dwight | Back to Cancer Journal Index Page |
